Money is down on Cain to win this big fight, his drive and energy make him the favourite. But his older opponent, Fabricio, has experience on his side. Could this be enough to bring Cain down?

Both fighters have had long careers, and great wins.  Cain has formidable power behind his strike - a jab and straight right has left his opponents dazed. Of his 13 fights, 11 have ended in KO/TKO as opposed to Fabricio's more austere record of 6KO/TKO.

Fabricio claims he is ready to defend the Heavyweight Title, but will this be enough to stand up against Cain’s restless brawl? Cain can fight on the ground and hit very hard.  Yet, Fabricio may well be catching Cain when he’s at the bottom of his game since his knee injury in 2013. 2 years is  a long time not to fight and it's going to be different in the octagon than in the gym.

With the altitude and climate difference, Cain’s at a disadvantage… but he’s also fighting for a title that many believe was his anyway, and he’s hungry to take it (back).

Whatever the case, we think tonight's fight is likely to bring some hard hits from Cain and some serious moments of doubt for the title defender, Fabricio.

Cain Velasquez

Fabricio Werdum

Cain started wrestling early  in Kofa High School, Arizona.  Blasting through the high school league with 110 wins 10. He wrestled throughout his formative years. Whilst at University he ranked 4th in the country!

Early Career

Werdum started his career a little angrier than Cain!

He took up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after he was put to sleep by an ex-boyfriend of his then girlfriend! He joined the local Jiu Jistsu club in Porto Alegre. Later he moved to  Spain, where there was no Jiu Jitsu to be found. Determined as he is, he set up some of what would later be known as the best fighting gyms in Spain.  He continued to practise JJ competitively and held the World Gold Medal as black belt twice.

With 10 years experience in wrestling, Cain still remains in  division 1 of the NCAA league, he has since developed formidable knowledge in Jiu-Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

MMA Training

As time progressed, Werdum began to focus his attention on the more lucrative world of MMA.  He later developed his stand up game, and to date has one of the best fighting records. With a 5 time win streak in the 2000’s
